Safeguarding at St. Mary’s, West Chiltington

 

Risk Assessment for activities with children

 

Every child has a right to be safe and secure in the Church environment at all times.

The play area by the Lady Chapel is resourced particularly for children who are present at any service or function, such as Baptism, Wedding, Funeral, Carol service, Christingle, Easter service, Family service or any other service in the Church.

The play area has a wide selection of toys, books and games that are educational, spiritual and safe to use for all ages.

Carpet area by the play area is suitable for children to sit in, lie in and play on.

New vestry has a cupboard with varied toys, games, colouring, drawing implements for the use of any child. This is only to be used when the child is accompanied by an appropriate adult or guardian.

Toilet situated in the new vestry, at present this does not have a changing table, but does have a plastic, foam-filled mat for changing; a bin is also situated in the new vestry for nappies and waste.

A room in the new vestry is suitable for playtime if more space is needed or if the children need to move around more. This can only be used with an appropriate adult or guardian.
